Look what’s been found on the BlackBerry North American website, more information—finally— about the U2 connection to the BlackBerry 9630 Tour. Back in early April I posted about Bono commenting on a RIM – U2 connection. Well, there does seem to be more, lots more, check it out.
Last night the U2 world tour kicked off in in Barcelona, with a live satellite hookup to the international space station and this odd claw stage, and a transformable LED screen—but RIM and BlackBerry were nowhere to be found, which sorta has left many of us wondering… What the heck is the Tour named the Tour for?
But today a “BlackBerry Loves U2” web page has been discovered on BlackBerry.com, pushing what is called the “U2 Mobile Album“, with additional links to the official U2 website and AppWorld, along with a link to signup for more information when the U2 Mobile Album is released… Do you think it is possible u2 might ONLY initially release an entire album in mobile format? Would that be a first? When I watch the video real close, I see what appear to be some screenshot from a media player (hopefully on a BlackBerry), and one that reads “this is the image you’ll be sharing with others who listen to this song.“
I think you’re gonna see some geo-location app with media involved, to locate friends in a concert, maybe (hence the Berlin stadium shot). You’ll see towards the end of the posted video, a reference to the Berlin stop of U2, on their tour… makes me wonder if something special will be happening during that July 18th stop in Berlin, as well? I am sure we will see even more as the July 12th 9630 Tour launch date nears, but for now, we can continue to guess.
You tell me what you know. Or think. RIM does seem to have kept this under wraps well. Until now.
Meanwhile, also check out these images from the website:
And these two images of the transformable LED screen.
