BlackBerry Thunder on BGR!

June 8th, 2008 | by BlackBerry News |

Well, that didn’t take long. And did you really have to guess who the source would be for one of the hottest devices to hit the market? The long-awaited touchscreen BlackBerry has now been given some legs to stand on, by way of a marketing presentation slide posted this morning on the Boy Genius Report. It looks a lot like a BlackBerry Bold or BlackBerry Curve with a device-length screen and minimalistic function-only keys.

Rumored to be a high-speed hybrid world device that will work on both EV-DO and HSDPA networks, this hot number will mark the first time that Verizon and Vodafone have used the collective power of the often criticized joint venture to earn worldwide and permanent exclusivity. This also happens to acknowledge the idea that “typing on glass” isn’t all that un-popular in Waterloo, unlike Research In Motion’s Co-CEO, Mike Lazaridis, would have you think.

The soon-to-be largest carrier in the United States and the second largest carrier in the world have definitely hit the proverbial jackpot with this device, if the rumors should turn out to be true. Verizon has been caught releasing touchscreen device after touchscreen device in the hopes of retaining customers giving a long and hard look at AT&T and the iPhone.

Now the only question for the BlackBerry faithful is - Verizon or AT&T?  Although it’s not that much of a difference for those with Verizon now, at least you now have something to come home to if you should return to Big Red after trying out the BlackBerry Bold.

    @ michaelbron

Sadly there is no calling on the 3G iPhone.

As for the Thunder getting it, I will say 99.99% no chance.
