Apple iPhone 3G Officially Announced at WWDC

June 9th, 2008 | by BlackBerry News |

Courtesy of Ryan Block at Engadget, who happens to be doing one hell of a job while live blogging, we learn that expectations were not to be let down and the announcement of the Apple iPhone 3G was delivered.

Steve Jobs mentions that Apple has learned from the faults and mistakes of the first incarnation of the iPhone and has done nothing but improved on what was considered by many to be perfection. We learn that most of the rumors ended up being correct - HSDPA, GPS, enterprise connectivity, slimmer design, better battery life, improved talk time… full plastic back (is that better?), metal buttons. The list goes on.

To top it off, worldwide pricing of $199 maximum and worldwide availability on July 11.

RIM, I hope you’re watching this as intently as the rest of the world. If the BlackBerry Bold comes in higher than $199 subsidized on Day 1, then it would be a mistake.

The summer of technology is amongst us. Do yourself a favor and take part in the festivities, whether it’s an iPhone 3G, a BlackBerry Bold, an HTC Touch Diamond, or any other of the major device releases coming to market in the next few months.
