The All-New BrickBreaker? BlackBerry Bold’s Word Mole

Just the very thought of the game strikes fear in little children all around the world. Say it with me, “Word Mole.” Okay, so all jokes aside, Word Mole, developed by Plazmic, comes to the BlackBerry Bold in a very simplistic delivery, very similar to the crowd-pleasing BrickBreaker. In a mash-up of favorites like Scrabble and Whack-A-Mole, the real question is whether or not this game will replace BrickBreaker as our free game of choice for mindless wasting of time.

If that’s not enough fun under the hood, mobile.blackberry.com favorites from Magmic Games - Klondike, Sudoku, and Texas Hold ‘Em 2 – will also be included in the standard OS 4.6 package for the BlackBerry Bold.

Personally, with the few minutes I played it, I found Word Mole to be an enjoyable way to use your brain in a timed gaming session. This is in contrast with BrickBreaker, as it was more about finger and eye reaction used with quick thinking. Perhaps RIM was thinking ‘educational but fun’ with this new from Plazmic. Nevertheless, if you decide you do not like Word Mole, BrickBreaker does receive the large screen treatment for the BlackBerry Bold, as well.

    Word mole has already replaced brickbreaker as the time-waster of choice in our household. Only problem is the dictionary is rubbish!

    I like Word Mole but the dictionary has such a limited vocabulary... if you choose a word that isn't in the dictionary on one of the later levels you can kiss goodbye to a decent score :-/ It would be nice if there was a way to update the dictionary.

    i've ranked 115 on the word mole leaderboard but when i try to check my stats as i used to do with the brickbreaker leaderboard, it says that it is only available to color devices... which of course makes no sense. i can't find it online - any suggestions?

    7000 is a greta score, beats my high by almost 3,000! I can barely make out the leader board on my Bold and it looks like the top scores are all north of 20,000. How anyone does that is beyond me!

    Any chance someone at Blackberry will fix Brickbreaker so that:
    1. the ball doesn't disappear off the screen if you bounce too high to the ceiling and
    2. level 16 is removed/rewritten?
    Who did the gamplay testing on this? They should be fired.

    Word Mole is rubbish! It doesn't recognise half of the words I input - and no, I'm not making words up. Perfidious is a word. I know this is a word, but just to confirm it, I looked it up in Chambers. Why doesn't the Mole recognise it?

    word Whomp is not the same as Word mole at all - much more restrictive

    I agree with comments re dictionary - it is hopeless - eg plough - not in the dictionary.

    We need Wordmole online though!!!

    How do I get my Blackberry Storm to let me see the Leaderboard? I keep getting messages like: "This game WordMoleENTOUCH 1.0 is not supported by high score service." and "The content you have requested is not available".
    By the way, my high score is only slightly above 4000; but would be much better if the dictionary wasn't so limited. It doesn't even have "triangulate" or some nice 3-letter words like ras or ria (all listed in the Merriam Webster dictionary).
