BlackBerry Javelin Gets a Model - BlackBerry 9300 w/ OS 4.6.1
June 21st, 2008 | by BlackBerry News |
The rumor mill has been on fire in recent weeks with the unearthing of the BlackBerry Javelin, which is the expected successor in the popular BlackBerry Curve device line. We have received a tip this morning that the model number will retain the same uniformity from one series to another, with the Javelin being internally coronated as the BlackBerry 9300.
Also with this tip comes the next OS version in the evolving BlackBerry life cycle, which comes as a surprise (to me, at least). The BlackBerry Javelin will launch with OS 4.6.1 rather than the much-anticipated OS 5.0.0, which is rumored to be in early testing on the 8000 series devices.
Research In Motion acquired the BlackBerry9300.com domain in early January, it appears.
