Vodafone UK Upgrades To BIS 2.5

Vodafone UK has launched the BIS 2.5 service we told you about last week, bringing HTML email to the consumer masses (of course, only available if you have device firmware 4.5 or greater).

Any new accounts created on the Vodafone BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) will automatically be on the new 2.5 system, however existing 2.0 accounts will remain in their current state. Vodafone is likely to plan a mass migration at some point (like they did with customers on the former 1.8 system) either via a forced means or by prompting the user when they log in to their BIS 2.0 account. No timeline for such an upgrade plan is currently known, although we’ll keep you posted as details come in.
