BREAKING NEWS: AT&T Bold Delayed Until Mid-August?

Early this morning the Boy Genius let loose on news that could serve a massive blow to RIM on the day it is set to release its earnings for Q1 of the 2009 fiscal year: the AT&T Bold is to be delayed until at least mid-August.

Apparently the cause of the delay is bad battery life in addition to over-heating owing to the software version that AT&T is putting on the device.

It’s also worth noting that while nothing concrete has been leaked in the past relating to a release window for the AT&T Bold, we know that their GSM neighbour to the north Rogers are holding launch parties for the Bold throughout the first half of July.

    BG is fallible, after all.

I'm pretty sure the battery life issues were resolved about a month ago - he probably mixed up somebody's snide comments about an earlier hardware rev with a leak.

AT&T handset clearance programs are pretty much voodoo to anybody outside the Death Star, even BG.

But if everybody really wants to panic, try this one:

BG has not yet reported clinical proof that the iPhone causes infertility and cancer. ;)

AT&T is just holding off releasing the Bold until Apple has it's moment for the new 3G iPhone. Nothing is wrong with the Bold it is just about $$$ & the sweetheart deal between AT&T/Apple. Roger's releasing it a month sooner goes a long way of proving that statement.
