NTT DoCoMo BIS Launch Information and BlackBerry Bold?
July 7th, 2008 | by BlackBerry News |![]()
NTT DoCoMo announced new plans to launch a personal BlackBerry service starting on August 1st. This new consumer oriented offering will cost roughly $30 per month, including applicable taxes, and will coincide with the consumer launch of the 8707v. According to the press release:
In addition, a discount packet-billing plan to be launched on September 1, called the BlackBerry Data Transmission Package, will enable users to transmit up to 80,000 packets of data per month for a flat charge of 1,680 yen. Data exceeding this limit will be charged at 0.0525 yen per packet.
DOCOMO will demonstrate the new BlackBerry Internet Service during Wireless Japan 2008 at Tokyo Big Sight from July 22 to 24.
While this may not be anything new or shocking, as the BlackBerry 8707 has been out for quite some time, it does expand RIM’s potential customer base in Japan… and less than 30 days after the iPhone 3G launch. Whats more is that one of our sources has given us credible information that points to the BlackBerry Bold launching on DoCoMo as well. Documents showing DoCoMo branding and information along side Vodafone and AT&T. In this market, it seems set that that consumers will at least have the option of a 3G iPhone and two 3G BlackBerry devices.
