Bold Release info for the UK and Australia
July 21st, 2008 | by mikeypants |
Good news to all of our friends in the UK and Australia; the Bold may be just a few weeks away. Representatives of UK carrier 3 have been quoted as saying the Bold, which will be the first BlackBerry device they will offer, will be released first by Vodafone “in the next two weeks.” When asked for comments, a Vodafone spokesperson simply said “we are hoping to launch the Bold before 1st November.”
Australia IT is reporting that RIM itself has confirmed a July 29 launch date for the Bold on 3, Optus, Telstra, and Vodafone. Despite this, 3 spokesperson Edwina Elliot has gone on the record saying “3 Mobile has no pricing and availability information available at the moment [for the Bold].”
3 in the UK has also stated that they will be offering a Skype-client on their version of the Bold, allowing users to potentially save vast amounts of money by using the WiFi feature of the Bold.

The problem with 3 is the quality of the network and their ability to support customers. I can’t see them having much success with it even with a Skype client.
