BlackBerry Bold on Vodafone – Delayed until September 1

We have received word today that the BlackBerry Bold will not be released on Vodafone until September 1. With the availability of the device on PCCW and CSL earlier this morning in Hong Kong, we find it surprising that Vodafone, which has the world’s largest global carrier footprint, has delayed the release of the device.

Following in the footsteps of AT&T, this is quite a set back for those in Europe and Asia looking to get their grubby hands on the glorious new BlackBerry. First expected in May 2008, then suggested for a July 30th launch, and then it was pushed back to August… now September 1.

Now granted, there aren’t many days between July 30th and September 1st (32 days for those counting), however the consistent string of delays sums up the black-eye that has been Research In Motion’s handling of the Bold’s release. It could have been a bold statement, but now it’s turned into a hopeful defense against the rising power of the Apple iPhone.

…and like many others, I’m still waiting on my darn Bold!

the bold's launch is 1 Aug 08. But actual delivery is only on 15th Aug for PCCW. They are currently taking orders only.

And I still don't get why AT&T won't be more definitive on a release date. Can they be that far behind schedule? I've heard seed units are out and training has begin for AT&T folks so why no definitive word?

    I don't get it...

The up and coming "flip phone" from BB is looking better and better. I have been waiting, seems like forever, for the ATT release in the US. With so many problems with the Bold, one has to wonder if this device is worth the investment. Is anyone else frustrated with RIM?
