Rogers Kickstart Promo Material Spotted, Now Named the Pearl?
August 6th, 2008 | by mikeypants |
Promotional photos of the Kickstart from Canada’s Rogers Wireless have now surfaced thanks to the Boy Genius Report. The photos, which show the WiFi-enabled 8220 variant of the clamshell device will feature Talkspot, which is the new name for what was formerly known on the Rogers network as Home Calling Zone (think T-Mobile’s UMA.) But that’s not what makes this news so interesting. The people over at BlackBerryCool, citing a photo of an internal Rogers document, are claiming that the Kickstart isn’t even called the Kickstart but rather the Pearl.
If you’re anxious to get your hands on the 8220, you’re probably going to have to wait until September/October to have the opportunity to hand over the $50 or so it is expected to be on contract.
Naming aside, you’d think that seeing as the colour of Rogers is red they would be promoting the red variant, but what say do we have?

In the meantime, you can get your 8220 fix by watching this hands-on video or by reading everything we’ve ever reported on the Kickstart. And believe me, it’s worth the read!
