Thanks to a tip from jakz0rz, BlackBerryNews now has the pricing details for the BlackBerry Bold on Rogers. The full retail price (no contract) is set at $649.99 and $399.99 with a 3-year contract (provided you sign up on a $45 voice and data plan). We’ve got some pictures and a little update on a release date after the break.

Despite some grumblings of a new delay, multiple sources from within Rogers are citing a announcement date of August 18th (next Monday) with the hopes of having the phones ready for sale as early as Tuesday. We were also told that thousands of Bolds being stockpiled in two major distribution centers in the Greater Toronto Area and Metro Vancouver.

Delay or no delay, there is an advertisement in the September 15th edition of Canadian Business Magazine that introduces the BlackBerry Bold and speaks about it as if it were generally available.

Only time will tell.

Thanks, jakz0rz!

$399 way too expensive considering the 3 year plan commitment and the requirement to sign on a data plan. A rip off
  • Fatman
The bold has been loaded into Better Buys :) retail system for nearly a month now.
We have also recieved all our promo materials including the giant Bold which had provided some much needed joking around .
As for the 399 price tag just cowboy it up and spend a few extra bucks and buy it outright.
    Thats my 2 cents!!
  • Well, I know i'd rather pay the 649 rather than the 399. The difference is REALLY little. I'd rather pay the extra cash and not be commited to 3 years! Damn ... The difference is (over 3 years) is $6.94 A MONTH! I think I'd rather pay that, and then jump ship if I ever want to. those are my 2.5 cents. lol.

Kent, I was thinking the same thing, but what about signing on for the 6GB 3g data plan? That requires a 3yr term as well. Its either that or go monthly $15/mo for unlimited emails but no allotted bandwidth for surfing or apps. I don't suppose you would settle for 4MB of data on the bold? I think I may just buy the phone, and sign the term for the data only, because the ETF for data plans is only $100.

Let me tell you right now, that's a bestbuy/futureshop corp. inventory control screen and the fact that the commission on the product is set to 0, which would be incorrect. Mostly however I searched the system as recently as a couple hours ago for any sign of the bold, including the class and sub class he has it listed at, and I found no trace.

I would have to say this entry is likely false.
  • jakz0rz
    WRONG! haha
JC you must be a newbie at the company, or at least a newbie on how to access the RSS inventory system. Look harder ;)

Just so you know, when there are promotional items, or pre-release item where the cost is not yet determined, the cost can be listed as 0 dollars or 9999 dollars. Secondly, the cost of this item is not 0, I have censored out the real cost. Adjust your monitor or eyes and look above the zeros.

Nice try at trying to bust, but you phail! :)

On an other note, I've just submitted some more photos to mikeypants showing the 3yr term pricing for the bold. It is not $199 like some FS/BB employees had originally stated. $399.

PS: JC just playin' with you ;)
  • JC
Yeah I feel you on the cost, I saw that was censored I meant the commission the buyout product pays you which is usually around $12-13 for bb's. I'm back at work today so i'll have another peek for sure. I don't even like the RSS system I preferred the old one.

Just came across a CP press release. The release date is this Thursday.

  • Just a little reminder to all those considering the outright purchase to avoid a 3 year commitment: the $30/month for 1GB data plan also requires a 3-year commitment. Unless you are only going to use it over WiFi, that has to be a consideration. From my own iPhone experience, you will find yourself using a lot more data than past experience over an EDGE network due to the nature of what's available and how you use it.
  • James, your info isn't correct.
There isn't a $30/1GB plan. There is $30/300 MB which requires no commitment and then there is the promo $30/6GB plan which requires a 3-year data commitment, not voice.
  • jakz0rz
that's been at the back of my mind for a while. But from my understanding (thanks mikeypants) the $30 6gb plan is only a data agreement. Your voice contract stays intact. Whereas the EFT for voice plans is some un-godly amount of coin, the EFT for data plans is a max of $100.
  • jakz0rz
    haha JINX! mikeypants
