AT&T to Release 8320, OS 4.5 for 8310 on 23 September
September 11th, 2008 | by BlackBerry News |
Thanks to a tip from an informant, BlackBerryNews has learned that AT&T will release the WiFi-enabled 8320 Curve in its titanium variant on Tuesday, September 23rd. Running OS 4.5 out of the box, the 8320 will cost $199.99 on a 2-year contract with a $100 mail-in rebate available to those who subscribe to a data plan. But that’s not all they have planned for that day.
Not wanting to have their other Curve clients feel left out, AT&T will also release OS 4.5 for the 8310 on the same day that the 8320 is released.
The only question that remains now is who will actually buy the WiFi Curve when they can get the GPS, WiFi, and 3G packing Bold a month later? I know I’d rather wait. Besides, I could use the extra month to earn the $200 difference!

What about the Curve 8300? Will that model get the 4.5 update then as well?

Well, It’s Sept 23rd and no 4.5 in sight. Guess it was just another rumor.

@ PepNYC,
It’s only 0952 EST. Give it some time.

Does AT&T have to post the update for the OS by a certain time? I’m dying to see if it comes out today!

13:22 and still no 4.5. Any idea where to find this? The AT&T link for downloads still just shows 4.2

Nothing yet. I tried to upgrade and it told me my carrier did not yet support the 4.5 upgrade. Still waiting…

Went to the ATT store today, all of the display signs said 8320 but the display models were still 8310s. Best Buy is currently selling 8310s for free w/ new 2 year contract but they only have the T-Mo 8320, I was hoping that I’d be able to get a free 8320 from them because I’ve been out of contract since September.

The local ATT store has taken down all of its 8320 display stuff and is back to the 8310 displays. Best Buy is supposed to still be doing the free ATT BB 8310 deal thru Oct 27th, but I tried to buy one at the end of September and they told me it was $130, even thought they still had the displays up for free 8310s. I’ve since complained to Best Buy and I’m supposed to be getting a $20 giftcard in the mail… which isn’t as cool as a free 8310
