att-bold-hiding
att-bold-hiding

With release dates for the AT&T BlackBerry Bold flying around the last few weeks, we thought it was only fair to fill you in on new information we received today. It appears that AT&T is planning a launch for the last week of September. This based is based on internal information from AT&T. We also learned today that the $299.00 price for the Bold is with contract and after a $100 Mail in rebate.

So add my date to the release date pool. Hopefully one of us wins soon!

    So without contract, the cost?
  • pb
    to much to buy
  • So what about us that are in contract with AT&T? For some reason I'm thinking that's going to be around $499 - $599.

So now it looks like the price is $399.00 with a mail in rebate for the $100.00 difference. By the way it is a $100.00 AT&T card. not sure if it can be used against the account to pay for the monthly service, or if it will be only for buying accessories, etc. Sorry, but this sounds like CRAP to me. Why would an individual want to pay that much more than the iPhone. They make you wait like a puppy for a bisquet, then rape you on the cost. No wonder their stock has fallen from June price of 140 to 150 per share to around 108. They might make me an iPhone user yet. And this is RIM trying to get more into the consumer market.lol

Well, the are several reasons that someone would still want this. It supports corporate email better than the iPhone can. Some people prefer a physical keyboard over an onscreen one. A BlackBerry can integrate with some IM clients pretty well, like Microsoft Office Communicator. Many larger corporations still do not support the iPhone as a mobile device (mine included).

Not trying to knock the iPhone, as I have to admit that's a pretty cool phone. And myself, I use Windows Mobile currently, but will be making a switch to a BlackBerry as soon as this device rolls out.

I have not been overly impressed with the iPhone, but when I got to play around with the Bold a few weeks back, I was blown away. Even with the announcement of the Storm coming to Verizon around November, I'm sticking with the Bold. It is solid and yeah, I like the actual keyboard.
  • I called an authorized AT&T distributor yesterday in Greer, SC and they told me they are getting them in October 12. They received an email confirming it.

Hrm, btw - the last week of September includes October 2 - which is the rumor we have been hearing for weeks, now. So this is no news...

    =(

I have been using this phone for about three weeks on AT&T network and it is awesome. No complaints here!
