Are These the Final VZW Storm Specs?

untitled-4
untitled-4

According to a post made over in the CrackBerry forums by Kevin Byrne, the following are the final specs for the 9530 Storm for the Verizon network:

  • EVDO Rev A: (1900/800 MHz)
  • GSM/GPRS/EDGE: (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)
  • UTMS/HSDPA/HSUPA: 2100MHZ
  • WiFi: None
  • Size: 112.52 x 62.2 x 13.95 mm
  • Screen 3.25″ HVGA+ 480×360 Multi-touch, Gesture Touch
  • Battery: 1400 mAh
  • Memory: 1GB flash for media/ 192 meg ram
  • Camera: 3.2 MP camera, vanity mirror, no flash
  • Audio: 3.5mm jack, bluetooth stereo, Rhapsody OTA purchase and tethered subscription capable
  • Browser: Every feature the iPhone Safari web kit has, minus support for tabs. No flash support.

Normally I’d approach such a forum post with scepticism, but given Kevin’s impressive history of Verizon intel, it is probably safe to say that these specs are the real deal.

Oh crap, just noticed no Flash support in browser??? WTF RIM!

With no WiFi and only 1GB of memory, this thing better be cheap if RIM wants it to compete with the iPhone.

No wifi and no GPS: no good

There has to be a microUSB and I hope there is a MicroSD slot with 8GB compatibility?? I kind of expected this not to support GPS so Verizon can push VZNav which i refuse to get. I will just use google maps on foot and my TomTom in my ride. Also, teh abscence of WiFi and flash support is a bummer as well. Descisions, descisions.......

No need for WiFi really when Verizon has the best coverage, although would be nice.

Assisted GPS - Enhanced version of GPS that performs at a faster speed

MicroSD and MicroSDHC expandable up to 8GB

No wifi is a bust for allot of people. Not everyone wants to use EVDO all the time, or they can't pay for the extra service. Sometimes you don't have EVDO coverage, but there is wifi. There is no reason why they can't include it.

This is why I haven't purchased a blackberry yet, because they have no wifi. We want wifi RIM!!!

When will it be released by Verizon?????? Any price points yet.
