BlackBerry GeneralKickStart Appears on eBay Again / Buyer To Be Disappointed

Once again we’re seeing a “pre-release / pre-production” BlackBerry show up on eBay, this time by seller Seenith. I wonder if the buyers or sellers will ever learn. I know there is no better feeling than playing with a great device before it is released, but if I had one the last thing I would be trying to do is sell it. I would be cherishing its existence and show it off a bit.
Back to the auction. I truly feel bad for anyone who purchases this BlackBerry for more than the price of a basic phone because the majority of the time the device will be rendered useless upon official launch. I love the following question and answers a potential buyer had with the seller:
|
Q: |
“Pre-release BBs are usually designed to stop working when the real ones come out. Are you sure this wont?” |
|
|
A: |
“the correct assumption is that the PIN will be blocked for data usages, me and my friend still has the pre-release bold and they still work, i havent tried after the blockage so its only data that is a problem to my understanding. however buyer is on their own for those kinds of issues. phone and all other important things work for it…” |
|
I love the part that its “only data that is blocked…all the other IMPORTANT things work” The last time I checked, data was the most important aspect of the BlackBerry.
The good news is that we should be seeing this device officially as the 8220 Pearl very soon. So soon a pre-release device just isn’t worth the price.
Seller beware and buyer beware: one of you will be disappointed in the end. If I was the seller I don’t think I would be selling this in RIM’s backyard. Just ask some recent sellers.
