AT&T BlackBerry Bold Training Canceled

BGR is reporting that the training that was supposed to occur over the next two weeks to prepare AT&T employees for the Bold launch has been canceled due to software issues with the Bold.

Following is the email posted at BGR:

As you are aware, with the anticipated launch of the 3G AT&T BlackBerry Bold, RIM has committed to hold training sessions in over 40 cities.  A large number of these sessions were to take place this and next week.  Due to the continued uncertainty of the device launch date, we will work with RIM to reschedule these sessions to a later date.
Any representatives that have registered will be informed by email of the schedule change. No action is required from your part.

Rescheduling the training to align with a final technical acceptance for BlackBerry Bold launch will ensure that:
a) the training material can cover all the feature functionality that will be on this device at launch (at this time we don’t have clarity on the status of all features).
b) handouts can be given to Dealers to reinforce the material covered
c) we will be able to provide attendees with a general availability date
c) the delivery of the material will be within one - two weeks of launch to ensure content retention and ability to practice what they learn in the field
d) the desired 30 person per session registration/attendance is achieved (training in the last week of a sales month at the end of a sales quarter should be avoided if possible)
Please let me know if any questions.
Thank you in advance for your understanding.

I am with BGR at this point. There is no use in even speculating on a launch date at this point. I am thinking I may have a Storm in my hands before a Bold.

Seriously, I am at a loss on this. I have been using my Bold for the past few weeks without issue, so any further delays are baffling.

Is this some kind of joke?

You have got to be kidding? I’ve been holding off on a contract extension for a month waiting for this phone. AT&T is going to lose a customer if the Storm launches prior to the Bold.

I’ve been all over RIM’s case for weeks about their botched rollout for several iffy products. But with regards to the Bold, a superior device, it seems obvious the real problem is with ATT. This is probably reflected in the “bounceback” RIM got today in the stock market, although it’s still less than half its price of a few months ago. I really don’t know if its a buying opportunity, because I truly think the new phones, each with a feature I like, but none offering “the ultimate Blackberry experience, are going to disappoint —— saleswise. But it’s a shame the Bold is getting hammered out the gate because of ATT. The real numbers and success, if the Bold finds it, will only be truly visible next summer after it’s out on a couple of more carriers.

@Daniel, The only official word anyone has gotten out of AT&T is before November. They have been saying that since mid July. So far it accurate.

I have to say that my patience in getting this phone through a legitimate AT&T store has about expired. I was told originally that I would have it in JUNE…. IT IS NOW OCTOBER and still no firm dates… NADA… Nothing. What is so hard?

I agree with Kyle. I’ve been available for an upgrade since July. Anxiously waiting. This will be the first Blackberry I’ve ever owned and not just played with. I’m starting to think maybe I should just get the curve and be done with it.

agreeing w/Tal. Awaiting my first ‘berry. Nearly thinking of just going with a curve. Patience better be a virtue.

My BB 8700C is dying and I need to upgrade. My current phone is a tank (i’ve dropped several times) no on occasion is does not power up. So I have been waiting and waiting and nothing concrete. I guess it is time to look into a BlackJack or iPhone (something 3G preferrably). Any AT&T recommendations?

I can now confirm the 20th. I spoke today with a friend who just happens to be the AT&T type who does the merchandise ordering for the local tri-county area stores.

Still about a million things that can go wrong with it all, but the BestBuy availability pushed AT&T into doing what they should have some time ago!

FU AT&T…I have four phones with AT&T and gladly change to Verizon. Their customer service is much better. I give up on AT&T.
