RIM to introduce eKEY for real estate profession

Exclusive information from RIM on the premier of eKEY for real estate professionals.

Long a domain by Palm users, RIM is on the verge of introducing their new eKEY service for BlackBerrys which will allow agents to retrieve listing keys from iBoxes, and an advanced service for searching the MLS from the BlackBerry.

Apparently, from the documents we viewed, it appears the eKEY service will come in two levels, basic and professional. A small Bluetooth to Infrared converter fob will be required, which sets up like a Bluetooth earpiece. When the fob is pointed at the iBox, the signal is converted to Infrared and communicates with the iBox.

Basic Service will include:

  • Retrieve listing keys from iBoxes
  • Program iBox access hours, even custom hours, when you take the listing
  • Beam specific showing notes, listing highlights and your business card into your iBoxes
  • Change your own shackle codes
  • Track your KeyBox inventory by number, shackle code and address

The Professional Service will include the above, and:

  • Retrieve MLS information
  • Search listings by MLS listing ID number, street address, or buyer profile
  • View listings on your MLS Hotsheet
  • Google maps connected directly to listings
  • Find the latest contact information for other agents, even if they’ve changed companies
  • Receive real-time showing notifications
  • View showing details right on BlackBerry.  See who is showing your listings while they’re at the property!

A welcome addition. Let's see what the $$ is and how seamless the sync and BlueTooth transfer is.
    • How much is this and where can I get it? Would like this addition instead of always having an ekey.
