BeamReader offers on-device PDF rendering

Finally, the first application is available to actually read and render your PDF files without third party server interaction.

BeamReader is from the same good people who brought us BeamBerry.

I’ve been using this Beta application for about a month now, and have been quite pleased with it. While the code needed to perform all of the on-device rending adds up to quite a large application (1.7mb), it is well worth it for those who need instant and quick PDF viewing with original fonts and direct reading from your Media Card, as well as from email attachments.

Says BeamBerry, “Now you can view your PDF e-mail attachments or PDF documents stored on your memory card without any loss of quality (i.e. the documents look exactly as they would when viewed on the PC). All of the original fonts, images and formatting is completely preserved. Furthermore, rendering of the documents is completely local to the device and you do not need a data plan to use the reader. BeamReader is the fastest and most intuitive PDF viewing solution available for the BlackBerry device.”

NOTE: BeamReader is currently in Beta, so you may experience problems when viewing certain documents. We would sincerely appreciate it if you could report these problems to us at support@beamberry.com along with the document that is causing trouble (if possible). Your feedback will enable us to provide you with a higher quality final product.

NOTE: BeamReader will work with any BlackBerry with OS 4.2 or higher. To open PDF e-mail attachments, OS 4.5 or higher is required. If you are using BES, viewing attachments requires BES 4.1.5 or higher.
