ReviewsTransmit Live Streaming Video From Your BlackBerry

It’s about time BlackBerry users have the ability to stream live video. Next2Friends is now offering this service for free.
All you have to do is sign up here and download the application to your BlackBerry. The video you record can then be streamed to your personal library and shared from there.
You must be using OS 4.5 or later in order to the Next2Friends application. From there the only cost to users is the data used, which is based on your BlackBerry data plan.
Features Include:
Live: Real-time streaming from device to web.
Snapup: Easily snap and upload a photo to the web in just two clicks. Snapup can also automatically send a copy to your email.
Tag & Meet: Intelligently matches virtual profiles in the physical world.
Proximity Tagging: Build a network of friends out of the people you pass everyday. Next2Friends Tag extends your profile into physical space by sensing (within 30 ft) and automatically suggests others with whom you have something in common.
Ask: Snap a photo, type in a question and have it beamed and the answered by all your friends.
The Application:
After registering at Next2Friends you may either download to your computer and install through the Desktop Manager or choose OTA. There are two options: Live v1.0(1mb) or Social v1.0(300kb). The OTA install was quick and painless.

After install completes select the N2F icon on the device and enter in your information and who would you like to share it with, and connection type.

Now you can select the the camera icon and begin recording. This initiates live streaming to the web that can be accessed through the dashboard on N2F and viewed by your friends or anyone you choose.

My Review:
I love the fact that streaming video is now possible with a Blackberry. If you’re out and about and want to capture something you want to share easily this application is the perfect solution. The video messaging feature is a nice option for sharing videos with other N2F users. Of course we can all take pictures and send them via MMS or email, but to have the option to upload directly to your blog is great. Proximity tagging is another nice feature I will have to play with. The Ask feature is something I think we could all use as I send out pictures asking questions all the time. When using the Ask function the question you ask can be answered with: Yes/No, A or B, or Rate.
This being the first Real-Time streaming application for Blackberry, I’d have to say it works quite well. The ‘Live’ application is just that and is streamed to your profile immediately. I believe the format and layout of N2F is good and am sure updates will be continues. Overall it’s a pretty cool application. It keeps you connected with your friends and your friends to you.
