AT&T To Push Ads To Media Net Subscribers
October 27th, 2008 | by Troy D. Brown |
This email went out to all AT&T representatives this morning:
Starting October 29, 2008, customers will see AT&T-approved advertisements on MEdia Net. The ads will be placed at the top of the category and application pages of MEdia Net and will consist of ads that are text-only, graphic-only, and graphic with a text tag-line. The ads that will appear on MEdia Net are the same non intrusive ads you see when you are on the Internet and familiar Web sites such as (CNN, Weather, and Yahoo).
Mobile Advertising is a significant revenue stream for AT&T. As such, if customers are agitated by the ads and proactively seek to stop them, the ads can be restricted by enabling Parental Controls. Specifically customers must turn their content filters to “ON.”

I wonder when they’ll start bookending phone calls with ‘unobtrusive’ voice ads. Oh, shoot, I hope I didn’t just give them an idea.

Since AT&T is getting paid for this advertisement, then they ought to be able to provide Media Net for free! And, I’ll hold my breath until that happens, LOL.
