Verizon Private BlackBerry Storm Sale

Alright Storm fans—it looks like the Storm will initially be available for purchase for certain customers on Nov. 17-21st. From the advert this seems to be a private sale, but the release for others can’t be far behind.

Why not just say if you want a Storm, come and get one between the 17th and the 21st. They haven't sent cards out like this for any other device so those receiving it really don't care that the Krave is out or dying to get their hands on a BB 8830. I just think this is Verizon's way of not committing to a release date. I guess it's their way of being able to say we were delayed since there was no "true" release date. Oh well. I want a phone that works and not have to rely on 30 software/firmware updates to get it right. I'll wait.

"their way of being able to say we were NOT delayed...."

It's for VIP members. Bring in your VIP card, and this flyer between the 17 - 21, and you should be set.
  • KaraBear
You're an idiot Jim. If you were a Verizon VIP and had a clue, then you'd know what this meant. But you don't so pipe down. Also it doesn't say it's not for sale either.

A sales rep from the Westminster Mall in CA said that the earliest he believed the release date might be was the 23rd of November, but he wasn't exactly sure. I know its not wise to get hopes up but I thought it might be helpful to get a better idea on when it would be released to the general public, a private sell earlier makes sense and is very interesting!

I was at a hands on perty this morning and a rep told me Nov. 23rd and it will be 199.00.

It is a pretty cool phone to play with. cant wait to own it.
  • The release date of the 25th seems accurate as I've been told by Verizon workers...and it coincides with this private sale so hopefully they're correct.

a best buy lady said it would be from $350-$450 with an upgrade and $800 without an upgrade

I got one of these cards in the mail yesterday. I am guessing I received it as I have been with Verizon for about 8 years and my contract expired a few months ago. On the inside it is advertising 4 phones including the Storm. There is pricing for all of the phones on the card except for the Storm, which just says "Introducing the Blackberry Storm". There is a tear off piece of the card which states "only availabe for" then lists my phone number and the address of the closest Verizon store to me. It says to bring to your local Verizon store on the dates listed for a "Private Sale" although it never really explains what that means. There is also a phone number to call. I called the number but the rep I spoke to couldn't tell me if the Storm was going to be available for this "Private Sale". She said they had not been told when it was going to be available or any pricing on it. I guess I'll just stop in on the 17th and see if it's there.

The private sale may be just be part of their inventory controls. Perhaps there will be a limited supply available next week, so they are targeting certain customers if they can't meet the entire demand. Thoughts?

So does anyone know if the storm will be for sale those days? i got my invite in the mail today! :)
  • Larry
Can you get one during the presale with just your VIP card or do you have to have the flyer
    Thanks
  • Adam
I got one of these cards as well. I called the 800 number and was told I could reserve one and that they would call me on the 21st to process my order. They offered me 50 extra minutes per month on my contract and a reduced price on the storm, but stated I would have to wait at least a week to get the phone sent to me.

Somebody's selling their all-access pass on eBay... haha
  • i have this card too, going to check it out after work tonight. anyone confirm anything about what 'all-access' really means?
  • Steve
This doesnt mean anything. Showed up at 9am, they didnt even have it for demo.

I felt like I was hit in the face with a big can of disappointment.

Thanks Verizon. They claimed it was an LG Private Sale.
  • mike
I just got off the phone with my pal who works at a Verizon kiosk in a BJ's Wholesale Club store and he told me straight up that the Storm is not available now for those who got a private sale pass but is definitely being released to the public on Friday the 21st. He also told me that the keyboard was shockingly accurate and resembled the poor LG Dare keyboard in no ways whatsoever. Another thing he said was that the browser had speeds comparable to a standard DSL home computer. He has the price listings and told me that a new two year agreement would be introduced at a mere $199.99 which is a steal but the regular price would enter in the vicinity of $400-$600. Let's hope your at least eligible for an upgrade.
  • Larry
I stopped by two stores and both said that they will not have any units to sell until Friday. One did have a non-functioning dummy, so I at least got to feel the way the screen clicks. Neither was keeping a pre-order list and both pretty much said the invite was meaningless for the Storm. The only good news is that both said they exepcted plenty of units.
  • nick
its total BS. I went with my VIP access card and they were very rude and wouldn't even let me put my name down to pre-order it. I understand that the Customer Service Rep has been hearing people complain about this thing for days, but that's not my fault. But I will be back on Friday to get my Blackberry Storm. Oh, and not even a demo model? Weak Sauce.
  • rachel
this was a bogus private sale. i went and they had a fake blackberry storm that we could "play" with. there were no storms available for purchase, the flyer was misleading.
