slotMusic Brings Exclusive Content via microSD

Are you bored of all the music on your new 8GB microSD card? Well, be bored no more because a paltry $14.99 will buy you a new slotMusic card.

Universal Music Group, SONY BMG, Warner Music Group, and EMI have teamed up to provide DRM-free music, video and exclusive content conveniently packaged on a 1GB microSD card. The typical slotMusic card holds a full album (at 320kbps), lyrics, album artwork, and room for your personal content.  According to the official website the cards are only available from Best Buy and Walmart, however I spotted a few at Target this weekend. Currently, slotMusic is only officially supported on the 81xx, 82xx, 83xx, and 88xx series, though I don’t see why it wouldn’t work on the Bold or Storm.

To find out more, head over to slotMusic.

The card should be a 4GB at that price in order to be truly useful.

Why would I wanna pull out my already existing card just to slide in a much smaller card just to listen to music.

I can applaud them for coming up with new means to sell music and it does show a change in direction for the music industry (very small), but it's a redundant process.
