FINALLY! OS 4.5 for CDMA 8130 and 8330

August 10th, 2008 by juwaack68

curve

Well it’s about time! CDMA users have been waiting (and some not so patiently) for the public release of a 4.5 OS for their device. Some of you will still have to wait, but for owners of the BlackBerry Curve 8330 and the BlackBerry Pearl 8130, the wait is over!  Sorry, looks like you 8830 World Edition users will have to wait, but hopefully not for too much longer.

OS 4.5.0.56 is available for both the Pearl and the Curve devices from MTS Mobility. Check in the BlackBerryForums.com 8100 forum to find the 8130 download link and installation instructions, and the 8330 forum for the Curve download link and installation instructions.

Happy downloading, and my fingers are crossed that 4.5 is just around the corner for the 8830 and 8703e, as well.

Virgin Mobile Canada Releases 8130 Pearl with OS 4.5.0.56

August 10th, 2008 by mikeypants

virgin-canada-8130-pearl

A few days ago, Virgin Mobile Canada jumped into the BlackBerry world by offering users a free BlackBerry Pearl 8130 with 8GB microSD card on a 3-year contract. But what makes the Virgin Mobile Pearl so interesting is that it is the first CDMA Pearl to have an official release of OS 4.5 - very fitting for a virgin BlackBerry release on Virgin Mobile.  (OS 4.5.0.56, Platform 3.2.0.44 to be specific.)

As far as plan pricing goes, Virgin Mobile Canada is offering users some fairly competitive rates for the Canadian market.

For exact pricing and details, keep on reading. Read the rest of this entry »

blackberry-9530-on-verizon

The Boy Genius has just posted a picture of Verizon’s product inventory which shows the touchscreen BlackBerry Thunder as the BB9530, confirming that the Thunder is indeed from 9500 series like we said over a month and a half ago. Also being reported by the Boy Genius is a tentative launch date of October 13 for the device which has a chipset that supports both CDMA and HSPA technologies for complete world coverage.

Bring on the advertising blitz.
